Privacy Policy

Bookmark AI does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to any server controlled by the developer. Your bookmarks and API key never leave your device except when sent directly to Anthropic's API.

What data is processed

When you use Bookmark AI, the following data is processed:

Bookmark titles and URLs — sent to Anthropic's API (api.anthropic.com) for renaming and sorting. This data is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Your Anthropic API key — stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. It is only sent to api.anthropic.com as an authentication header.
Your bookmark folder structure — read locally to build folder lists for sorting. Never transmitted anywhere.

What data is stored

The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

Your Anthropic API key
Your selected stash folder ID
Your auto-process preference (on/off)

This data is stored in chrome.storage.local, which means it is local to your device and is not synced to your Google account or any external server.

Third-party services

Bookmark AI sends data to one third-party service:

Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) — bookmark titles and URLs are sent here to perform AI-powered renaming and sorting. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

No data is sent to the developer or any server operated by the developer.

Permissions used

bookmarks — to read, rename, and move your bookmarks
storage — to save your API key and preferences locally
contextMenus — to add the right-click "Rename bookmark with AI" option
host permission for api.anthropic.com — to make API calls to Anthropic directly from the browser

Data retention

The extension retains locally stored data (API key, preferences) until you clear it via the CONFIG tab or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

Children's privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
